Lionel Trains

Lionel trains were manufactured in the beginning of the nineteenth century and were very colorful, with all its complete accessories. Though technology was not in full form in those days, the Lionel trains were manufactured with great precision and details and this was one of the reasons for their popularity.

The tender of the Lionel train is made of metal; the engine is made of nickel plates and has operating headlights. There is a whistle too. Many more accessories are added to the Lionel trains such as lamp posts, stop control station and station platforms.

Lionel trains symbolize the prewar heritage and history of America. There are collectors of Lionel trains who are ready to pay a hefty sum of money, just to own an antique Lionel train. As a matter of fact, there is a train collectors association and there are many people who are permanent members of this association.

Collectors of Lionel trains find rare models and the association also publishes its own catalogues and holds events where train enthusiasts gather and exchange information regarding various information about trains. The topic would also be about how to maintain and preserve old Lionel trains, who owns what model and offer tips on maintaining Lionel trains. Such is their love for Lionel model trains and justifiably so.

If Joshua Lionel cowen, the manufacturer of Lionel trains had been alive, he would have been only happy to be a part of this community.
